Estero is the capital of Quarto, located on its western edge, about a half week's trek from the coastline. Estero is perhaps the main trade center in all of Aust, and is one of the few large cities in the world where slave trading is still legal and carried on in a very public fashion. Roughly three-and-a-half-million people populate Estero, and about three quarters of them are outside merchants and travelers. It is also home to several large academies and universities, possibly the most famous being the Stimato Fighter-Mage Academy in the city's southwestern district.
